Travel Tips for Solo Female Travelers

solo female travelers
Do you want to travel the world as a solo woman? Are you worried that something might happen to you? Do you think your friends and family might be right about the world being "dangerous"? Not sure where to start? Don't be afraid. Many women travel the world alone. This is now very common for our Turkish women as well (just take a look at our female travelers sharing their journeys on Instagram!).

Since I cannot offer advice on this (I am a man!), I have brought you articles and interviews from various female travelers to share their tips, tricks, and recommendations on how to stay safe in your accommodation and how to navigate on your own.

MY FAVORITE TRAVEL RESOURCES

Below are the favorite companies I use when traveling. Whenever I need to book a flight, accommodation, tour, or car rental, they are always my starting point!

Skyscanner – Skyscanner is my favorite flight search engine. It searches small websites and budget-friendly airlines that major search sites often overlook. It is definitely the number one place to start.

Google Flights – Google Flights finds incredible flight deals. If you are flexible with dates and destinations, you can catch great deals and save hundreds of dollars in the process!

Hostelworld – This is the best hostel booking site; it offers the largest inventory, the best search interface, and the widest availability.

Booking.com – The best overall booking site. It consistently provides the cheapest and lowest rates and has the widest range of budget accommodation options. In all my tests, it has always been the site that provides the cheapest prices.

Get Your Guide – This is a great online marketplace for tours and trips. It offers many tour options in cities around the world, from cooking classes to walking tours and street art lessons!

Safetywing – This site offers convenient and affordable plans for digital nomads and long-term travelers. With cheap monthly plans, great customer service, and an easy-to-use claims process, it is perfect for those on the road.

Rental Cars – Rental Cars is a car rental aggregator and can help you find the best deals for your next trip. It pulls data from over 60,000 car rental locations to ensure you always find a great deal!

WorkAway – A platform that connects you with people who need help. In exchange for handling the assigned tasks, you receive free accommodation.

Airalo – Allows you to connect to the internet via eSIM wherever you are in the world.
