The next stop on my world tour was Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. I reached this beautiful city by hitchhiking from the historic city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan. Before coming to Tajikistan, I was truly impressed by the help and hospitality shown to me by the people of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. However, I had a different experience in Tajikistan and realized that the people of this country also have a unique warmth of their own. In this post, I will share my experience of earning money on the streets of Tajikistan and my first days in Dushanbe.
Hitchhiking from Samarkand to Dushanbe
As I set out from Samarkand toward Tajikistan, I knew this leg of my world tour would be quite exciting. Tajikistan is a country known for its mountainous geography and historical structures. Hitchhiking to the capital of this country was an unforgettable experience for me. Throughout the journey, I met local people, and with their help, I reached Dushanbe without any issues.
First Impressions in Dushanbe: The Warmth of the Tajik People
When I arrived in Dushanbe, the hospitality of the Tajik people surprised me once again. Combined with the warmth of its people, the cultural fabric of Tajikistan made me feel very comfortable in this country. As I wandered the streets of Dushanbe, I realized that this country has a different energy compared to other Central Asian nations. The people of Tajikistan impressed me with their sincerity and helpfulness.
The Experience of Earning Money on the Streets of Tajikistan
I tried busking to earn money in Tajikistan. I attempted to make a living by playing the ukulele and selling handmade bracelets. After the experiences I gained in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, I found that same energy on the streets of Tajikistan as well. The interest the Tajik people have in music and the value they place on art made this experience even more special for me. People accompanied my music and showed interest in my bracelets. This time I spent in Tajikistan was satisfying both financially and spiritually.

These first days I spent in Tajikistan allowed me to discover the cultural riches of the country and the warmth of its people. Earning money on the streets of Tajikistan showed me how different and special this country is. The colorful streets of Dushanbe and its helpful people will remain as one of the most unforgettable memories of my world tour.
