After a difficult few days in Urumqi, the capital of East Turkestan, it was finally time to set off for Beijing. This was my last day in Urumqi, and this time, I wanted to make a slightly more entertaining video. However, I once again experienced that nothing is easy in this city. Since my train from Urumqi to Beijing was in the evening, I started looking for a place to shower during the day. But once again, I was refused due to my nationality, and I decided to inject a little humor into the situation to cope with it. In this post, I will share with you the fun moments of my last day in Urumqi and my attempt to bribe the Chinese.
Last Day in Urumqi: The Struggle to Find a Place to Shower
On my last day in Urumqi, I wanted to relax and take a shower before catching my train to Beijing. However, being Turkish in this city was, as always, full of challenges. I went to several places to find a shower, but each time I was rejected because of my nationality. This left me frustrated once again, but on my final day, I decided to approach this experience in a lighter way.
An Attempt to Bribe the Chinese: A Fun Experience
As I kept getting rejected, I decided to turn the situation into a joke. At one of the places I visited, when I realized I wouldn't be accepted, I played it for laughs and tried to offer a bribe. The absurdity of the situation brought a smile to both my face and the faces of those around me. Of course, my bribe offer wasn't taken seriously, but I wanted to record this moment and share it with you. This little anecdote lifted my spirits a bit after the difficult days I had spent in Urumqi.
The Joy of the Last Day and Leaving Urumqi
In conclusion, this last day in Urumqi reminded me once again of both the challenges and the power of humor. My experiences in this city helped me better understand the oppression and difficulties faced by the people in China's Xinjiang region, especially the Uyghur Turks. As I left Urumqi, I reflected on how this experience had changed me, despite the difficulties I endured.
