When the host of the house I found on Couchsurfing in Pattaya, Thailand, told me at the last minute "I am a ladyboy," I was surprised at first. But I didn't want to turn back because I decided to take a chance. This adventure helped me realize once again that we shouldn't judge people based on their appearance or their thoughts.

My Initial Reactions and Decisions

When I first met my host, I wasn't expecting such a revelation. However, this experience taught me how to manage our prejudices. During the time I spent with them, their sincerity and kindness added a lot to my life. Having this experience became one of the most special moments I spent in Thailand.

Pattaya is one of the places where ladyboy culture is most prevalent. This culture emerges as part of Thailand's open-minded structure. However, for those coming from the outside, this situation can sometimes be difficult to get used to. My experience reminded me once again of the importance of going beyond prejudices and accepting people as they are.
