After long and difficult days, I had finally made it to my train from Urumqi to Beijing. This 2,500 km journey, which would take 40 hours, was meant to be a moment of relief after all the hardships I had endured. I hadn't been able to take a shower during the four days I spent in Urumqi and had been sleeping on the streets for three nights. For this reason, I was hoping for a somewhat comfortable train journey. However, in this article, I will share with you how this trip went and what kind of surprises the train had in store for me.

The Process of Buying a Train Ticket: Thanks to My Ukulele

Buying my train ticket was the most important step in finding a solution to the difficulties I faced in Urumqi. Thanks to my ukulele, I was able to buy my ticket to Beijing with the money I earned by playing music on the streets for a few days. This train journey was to be both an escape from Urumqi and a new beginning toward China's capital, Beijing. However, I couldn't fully anticipate what awaited me on this trip.

Difficult Days in Urumqi: Sleeping on the Streets

The four days before boarding the train were filled with nights spent on the streets of Urumqi without being able to shower. This period drained me both physically and mentally. However, I was hoping my train journey would be more comfortable. While waiting for the train time, I was dreaming of leaving the hardships of the last few days behind and getting some rest during this long journey.

When I boarded my train, I thought the long-awaited moment of relief had finally arrived. However, the difficulties I encountered during this 40-hour journey showed that the train might not be very comfortable either. The train was not as comfortable as I had hoped, and I faced various difficulties throughout this long journey.
